| I have a lot of stuff going on these days -- what with the Emily Dickinson Holiday Season upon us (though I've yet to see displays up in the stores). Left: My fourth annual concert in honor of the Belle of Amherst will be on Sunday, December 13. More info on this is below -- just keep scrolling. Bottom left: "Lewis & Clark & Dickinson," scheduled for Sunday, November 8. So what does Emily Dickinson have in common with Lewis & Clark? Well, I'm going to focus on some of her poems centered on the description of the birds and the beasts (and the plants too). Bottom right: On December 10 at a local library, I will be presenting information for the poet's 196th birthday on a poem by Thomas Bailey Aldrich, one which I believe is a secret tribute to Dickinson -- from the very man who called her poetry "chaotic" and predicted she'd end up in "oblivion." Lower on the page: A draft program for my December 13th concert. |
