Back in late December I found a site with “Glass was the Street - in Tinsel Peril” shown in Russian. It popped up on someone’s blog at LiveJournal.com.
LiveJournal, according to their site “is a unique place where people share their life stories, give advice and exchange ideas.” I ran a search on LiveJournal and found this:
“LiveJournal is a Russian-owned social networking and blogging platform, launched in 1999, where users keep online diaries (journals) and connect with others through communities, comments, and friend lists, historically popular for self-expression, fandoms (like fanfiction), and creating diverse online content.”
The blog with the Dickinson poem was from someone on the site named “Antimerdiem,” HERE. The post included the poem both in English and in Russian. I wondered how the Russian would translate back to English, so I tossed the lines into Google Translate, and here’s what I got.
Of course, I wonder how accurate the re-translation is compared to the Russian. Does anyone out there speak Russian – how true-to-form is the retranslation?
