 Click the images to enlarge. | One week from today is my concert celebration of Emily Dickinson’s 194th birthday (which is this Tuesday, 12/10). A friend of mine will be singing songs I wrote based on the poetry of Dickinson – and other poets too (I play the piano). We have 10 songs ready – 6 based on Dickinson, 2 based on Hughes, 1 based on Cummings, and 1 original song by yours truly. The draft of the program is shown below.

UPDATE:
We had our event today -- Sunday, December 15, 2024 -- our concert in celebration of Emily Dickinson's 194th birthday!
We had about 15 friends in attendance, I played the piano -- with original music for the poems listed in the program above -- and a friend of mine sang songs based on the poems (that's her on the left in the photograph below).

We performed in a local home, and the piano, a Steinway (manufactured circa 1926), has an interesting history: The grandparents of the woman who owns the home gave the piano to her parents when they got married -- and in the late 1990s, they had the piano refinished and re-strung. It sounded beautiful.
