And in how many poems did she mention September?
Zero.
Okay, so how about something to do with a poem about the fall?
That’s it! I remember an interesting bit of trivia dealing with the fall.
Dickinson wrote 11 poems where she used the word “autumn” and about 20 poems with the word “fall”; however, of those 20 “fall” poems, in only one did she use the word “fall” to mean the season: “If you were coming in the fall.”
So there you have it – I’ll share that wonderful poem with you this morning, and add that I will be traveling in the next few days, so no more “Daily Dose of Dickinson” posts for the rest of the month. I’ll start back up with additional posts on October 1.
BTW: Dickinson used the word “October” in three different poems.
