| My wife and I were traveling during the second round of "No Kings Day" protests, so we were unable to participate; however, in the spirit of the protests -- which I understand was the biggest day of national portest in our nation's history -- , I have posted Emmett Lee Dickinson's "He needs a Prison cell" below on the left. Dickinson's poem inspired his third cousin Emily to pen her poem "How soft this Prison is," below on the right. |
| By Emmett Lee Dickinson: He needs a Prison cell With fast wrought iron bars This Despot who’s the King of Crime To save this land of ours Our Fate is this we Hope Has he now for his Realm A Dungeon for this Klansman his Incarceration – Home. | By Emily Dickinson: How soft this Prison is How sweet these sullen bars No Despot but the King of Down Invented this repose Of Fate if this is All Has he no added Realm A Dungeon but a Kinsman is Incarceration – Home. |
