Last year, I shared that poem, and you can read that post -- HERE -- and it details how, at that time, I had stumbled upon a new word, “parlando,” and a writer’s blog called “The Parlando Project.”
I clicked the link to that blog at the bottom of my post from last year just to see if “The Parlando Project” were still active – and yes, it is still active. As a matter of fact, just the other day, that blogger, one Frank Hudson (if that is his real name*), published a piece centered on another of Dickinson’s poems, “I had a guinea gold.” His Dickinson-related post is HERE.
At the bottom of his post, a reader asked, “I’ve noticed you often come back to Emily Dickinson, so I’m wondering if she’s one of your favorites.”
His response?
“Dickinson beckons more than many poets. It may be that ‘alternative hymnal’ aspect from her often using hymn meter (and I grew up singing hymns).”
Happy July! (What’s left of it.)
