OCTOBER 14 - 16 IN HISTORIC WASHERST, PA

The theme of this year's conference, "Look forward to Nights of Luxury," comes from Emmett Lee Dickinson's haiku entitled "Looking forward to" (below on the left).  That poem was one of Emily Dickinson's inspirations for her poem "Wild nights!  Wild nights!" (below on the right).
Picture
By Emmett Lee Dickinson:

Looking forward to
A wild night of luxury.
Where the hell are you?

By Emily Dickinson:

Wild Nights – Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile – the Winds –
To a Heart in port –
Done with the Compass –
Done with the Chart!

Rowing in Eden –
Ah, the Sea!
Might I but moor – Tonight –
In Thee!

LOCATION:  THE PICNIC SHELTER
AT THE WASHERST MATTRESS DUMP

The Washerst Mattress Dump, pictured below, is the fifth largest mattress dump in the United States -- behind those in Memphis, Tennessee; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Ithaca, New York.  A favorite of both locals and tourists, the mattress dump is the site of a summer festival with many popular games and competitions for kids and families.

This year's DOPE Conference celebrating the 213th birthday of America's greatest poet, Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request) will be held at the picnic shelter at the mattress dump.  To get to the shelter, pass the main dump and single blue Serta by the fence.  At the stop sign turn right, and drive a quarter mile.

GUEST SPEAKERS

JOHN MILLER

"Who is John Miller?" you ask.

John Miller is Donald Trump's elusive publicist.  Some say he "vanished" into the wilderness because he could not deal with the pressure of being a f neglected and forgotten figure in Mr. Trump's life, but we found him strolling through a desolate part of Central Park in New York City (pictured at the right).

MIller, who is himself a great fan of Emmett Lee Dickinson, agreed to be our keynote speaker at the opening picnic for the 2016 DOPE Conference.  He will address the anguish Dickinson suffered throughout his life in a presentation entitled "America's Forgotten Poet."

LESLIE JONES

Leslie Jones, star of stage, screen, and Allstate commercial, will conduct a six-hour seminar on social media  analysis focusing on Emmett Lee Dickinson's now-classic poem, "This is my #Twitter to the World" (which inspired his third cousin Emily to pen her poem "This is my letter to the World").

She will speak on Dickinson's influence on the "Ghostbusters" franchise -- which was originally going to be called "Poetbusters." For information, click HERE and HERE.

KENNETH BONE

Internet luminary -- and the true winner of the 2nd presidential debate -- Kenneth Bone will be the keynote speaker at the picnic dinner on Saturday night with a focus on the energy policy of the Dickinson Organization of Poetry Enthusiasts (DOPE) in a multi-media presentation entitled "Steps that DOPE will take to meet the energy needs of making the world Dickinson-friendly while minimizing scorn."
