One of the worst odors I ever smelled was at a gas station in Ohio due to the pig farm next door. This past weekend, and even worse stink wafted from Ohio, and that was due to the GOP Klan Rally in support of Grand Wizard Trump.

The GOP has literally lost its mind.

They have been taken in by a criminal grifter, and it is just unbelievable how RepubliQans have rallied behind this con man -- especially in the face of his coup attempt to overthrow our government through his planned insurrection on January 6, 2021. Now it is simply incredible how the GOP is attempting to re-write history by characterizing the attack on our Capitol as just "another day" with tourists.

This past week Nancy Pelosi announced that a select committee will investigate the attack since the Party of Putin blocked a bipartisan commission to get at the truth. Of course, the GQP blocked the investigation -- because some (many?) of them were in on the planning -- and because TRUTH is like Kryptonite to right wing nut jobs. They cannot support nor tolerate the truth.

I had absolutely no idea how fragile our democracy is (is it too early to say "was"?) -- but I had no idea that one of our major parties, the GOP, would work so vigorously to destroy our government. Oh, I've known for many years that their self-proclaimed monopoly on "family values" was a thin disguise, but I didn't think they would be complicit in a Russian-puppet's seditious attempt to over-throw our fair and free presidential election. I didn't think they would back that same traitor's "big lie." I didn't think that they would obstruct a bi-partisan commission to get to the bottom of that same con-man's coup attempt last January -- most likely because a number of our current GOP senators and representatives were in on the planning for the insurrection. It is all truly shocking.

Trump must grin like an orange Cheshire cat every time the GOP covers up his crimes. He must thank God that MAGAts are so incredibly naive and stupid.

A Man of Conviction (Hopefully)

Hopefully, enough RepubliQans in the Senate will grow backbones overnight so that they will vote to convict Donald Trump of his crimes related to his attempt to overthrow our government with a mob of angry and seditious MAGAts.

Lady G. was right when he tweeted, "If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed.......and we will deserve it." I don't expect Lady G to summon up enough courage to vote to convict, though. He's carried Trump's balls on the golf course one too many times to think otherwise.

Our nation was nearly destroyed by Trump -- but the fact of the matter is, though, that he was enabled to do so by the GOP (or should I say QOP? GQP? GOPQ?).

Sadly, most RepubliQan senators are so far down the QAnon rabbit hole that they would rather abandon our constitution and transform our democratic republic into a Banana RepubliQ headed by a grifter.

If inciting an insurrection to overthrow our government is not extreme enough to warrant conviction, then what the (insert the expletive of your choice here) is?

Right on cue, insurrectionists stormed the US Capitol one month ago in an attempt to overthrow our government. And who gave the treasonous rabble that cue? The so-called president-in-chief, Donald Trump.

I was APPALLED and STUNNED. A sitting "president' of the United States attempted to mount a coup to overthrow our Constitution and our government.

I was even more APPALLED and STUNNED when -- just one week later -- 197 Republicans refused to vote to impeach the criminal-in-chief (who should have been arrested for treason on January 6th).

Some GOP reps lamented the "process" -- that the impeachment was just a rush to judgement. I dunno -- in my book, when a sitting "president" mounts insurrection against our democracy in real-time on live TV -- yeah, you move fast.

Some GOP reps begged for unity -- so damned hypocritical of them after (a) they've enabled the most divisive "president" in our nation's history to wreak havoc on our nation for the past four years and (b) they helped to bring on Trump's madness with their continued efforts to perpetuate "the big lie" (that Trump had won the election due to voter fraud). By the way, that one nut-job GOP representative, Marjorie Taylor Greene, filed a motion to impeach Biden on January 21st -- how's that for GOP unity? Info is HERE. Oh -- she's the same coup-coup bird who stood before untold numbers of television cameras during the impeachment proceedings wearing a mask stamped with the word "CENSORED" as she spoke to the world about conspiracy theories.

I cannot understand how anyone can still support Trump OR the GOP. Their insurrection was based on racist efforts to silence the voices and eliminate the votes of Blacks who came through in record numbers to save our country from tyranny. As far as I'm concerned, the GOP should now be registered as a terrorist organization. They are now the RepubliQan Party -- with a capital Q.

Trump's impeachment trail begins in two days. Will enough RepubliQans break ranks to convict the traitor? We can only hope.

FOUR WEEKS IN JANUARY:

Week of January 6: So-called president Trump commits treason and incites insurrection when he sends a mob of domestic terrorists to the US Capitol to overthrow our government. Several people die, including a police officer whom the terrorists beat to death with an American flag.

Week of January 13: In a bi-partisan vote, the House of Representatives impeaches so-called president Trump for treason -- making Trump the only president in US history to be impeached twice. Angry Republicans threaten continued violence and make death threats to GOP members of the House who sided with the Democrats in their appropriate and historic action.

Week of January 20: Joe Biden is inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. Washington DC and the US Capitol are surrounded by the National Guard to protect everyone from the out-going president and the GOP. Think about that. Guards are posted to protect the ceremony from a sitting president of the United States and a conspiracy-crazed political party.

Week of January 27: The nation gets back to business and attempts to return to order and routine. The GOP continues to peddle the propaganda of fear as their members slide further down the QAnon rabbit hole. News surfaces that many of them attended a planning meeting with Trump and insurrectionists on January 5th, the night before Trump's coup attempt.

At this point, our democratic republic and our Constitution has survived the attacks from Trump and the radical Right -- but really, just by the skin of our teeth! Imagine if state officials in Georgia and other flipped states did not have the courage and convictions to stand up to tyranny? What if those positions had been held by Q-nuts like some of the current members in the House? We could be dealing with a completely different outcome. I shudder to think.

Over the years, the GOP has mastered the art of voter suppression, the propaganda of fear, and the spreading of conspiracy theories. Now they are honing their skills on election fraud. Think about it -- the next time a GOP candidate secretly calls a state official to "find" 11,800 votes -- what will happen? (To be honest, I do think that voter fraud did happen in South Carolina this year -- evidenced by Lady G's call to Georgia to see if they could work out the same deal he likely worked out in his home state.) The current GOP is committed to steeling more of our elections in the future (and ironically, they are always the first to say that if they don't win, the election must be rigged).

Yes, our constitution has "checks and balances" that could have prevented much of what happened over the past four years, but I had no idea how delicate our system was -- because I had no idea that the GOP would so readily and so eagerly hold a Mr. Pillow over Lady Liberty's head in order to suffocate our democracy.

Fortunately, for now, we can breathe again -- but there is much work to be done to protect our Constitution. Hopefully, enough GOP senators will find the courage to vote with the Democrats to convict Trump. Good Lord, the man incited an insurrection to overthrow our government!!! If that is not a crime for a which a sitting president should be impeached and convicted, then what the hell is?

WHY hasn't Donald Trump been arrested yet? HE INCITED A CROWD TO MARCH TO THE CAPITOL TO ATTEMPT A HOSTILE TAKEOVER OF OUR GOVERNMENT.

Many of the parasitic worms in the GOP are now begging Biden to stop the Democrats from impeaching him again. Lady G, for example, said that we need to move on and that impeaching Trump would not bring about unity and healing.

Hmm...I wonder if he thought the GOP's lies and misinformation about the 2020 election were bringing about unity and healing?

TRUMP STAGED A COUP!!! HE INCITED INSURRECTION. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE ON THE PART OF THE GOP???

Some stories floating about out there suggest that members of the GOP were in on this "white privilege jamboree" (as Brian Williams referred to it). For example, who was it that Representative Matt Gaetz was texting in the midst of all the chaos? Was he merely telling Nestor that he loved him?

Why did the Capitol Police open the gates and let the MAGA marauders just saunter into the place? Why were some of the Capitol Cops seen posing for selfies with the terrorists? Why were they seen in videos holding hands with some of the insurrectionists and helping them down the steps? Why did the DOD refuse requests for help from the National Guard? Why was Trump and his family of toads watching all the news from a tent, "command central," while having a party?

We CANNOT just move on from this. Trump needs to be impeached and removed from office. He needs to be arrested. He needs to be incarcerated.

I salute Twitter for suspending his account. But "what about freedom of speech and the Frist Amendment?" you ask.

SHAME on Trump. SHAME on the Trump family. SHAME on Giuliani. SHAME on Hawley and Cruz. SHAME on the GOP. SHAME on anyone who supports Trump and the GOP. SHAME on Fox and OAN.
