The Naked Truth

Kim Kardashian is in the midst of several Twitter feuds since posting a near-naked selfie. 

Kardashian posted the photo with the quip, "When you're like I have nothing to wear LOL ."

In response, Piers Morgan tweeted, "I know the old man's $50 million in debt, Kim - but this is absurd. Want me to buy you some clothes?" 

Kardahsian retorted, "hey @piersmorgan never offer to buy a married woman clothes. thats on some ashley madison type shit #forresearch." 

Undeterred, Morgan shot back, "Fairly sure @kanyewest just seized control of @KimKarshian's phone."

On a separate front, Bette Midler tweeted, "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera."  The two went back and forth for a bit, and the most recent volley from Midler allowed, "@KimKardashian: I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke..."

Pope Francis even chimed in on the hullabaloo with, "Celebrity twitter wars are funny, @KimKardashian, but let's do it with a little bit of class -- and maybe don a few articles of clothing?"  Kardashian lashed out at the Pope with,   "Reading your comment like...LOL.  Doff those silly robes, old man, and free yourself."

Kardashian wasn't the first, though, to create a controversy over a nude selfie.  No, way back in the late 1800s, Kammoline "Kam" Kardashian  -- very distant kin to Kim Kardashian -- created a stir when she published a nearly nude selfie (pictured at the right) . 

The clamor over the commotion reached its peak when Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request) published " I’d hoped to prove the Years were sweet "(below on the left), his now classic poem about the furor.  Dickinson's poem inspired third-cousin Emily to pen her poem, "I could not prove the Years had feet" (below on the right).
