Did you know that the concept of spring break was conceived of by Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request)? The first mention of the concept was noted in Dickinson's now-classic poem "The respite that is called Spring Break" (below on the left). His poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "The Notice that is called the Spring" (below on the right).
