We received two very kind notes from an Emmett Lee Dickinson fan named Ricardo recently. The first asked about the possibility of visiting the ELD Museum (above the coin-op Laundromat) on Dickinson Boulevard in historic Washerst, PA (the birthplace of Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request):
Alas, Ricardo, a visit to the museum is impossible as it burned to the ground on New Year's Eve 2015. For details, click the image at the right to enlarge. Additional details are HERE. There is some good news though: we are planning to rebuild. Details about our rebuilding campaign are HERE and HERE. Soon we hope to give an update on our funding drive to rebuild the museum. A few days later, Ricardo followed up his original message with this: |
"Howdy, Just an addendum to my last email: upon a revisit to your site, I tell you that it is a doggone great site, and I feel strongly that Emily D. would approve. She would be chuckling herself silly, and probably going next door to her sister-in-law's insisting that they fire up Sue's computer and visit the site!"
Vinnie and I talked of you as we sewed, this afternoon. I said - "how far he seems from us," but Vinnie answered me "only a little way"... “he is present in every titter, in every giggle, in every laugh.”
Please remember us. Write us very soon, and tell us how you are...
Affectionately,
Emily.
