Bush retaliated with, "While Donald Trump was building a reality TV show, my brother was building a security apparatus to keep us safe. And I'm proud of what he did."
Trump jumped in with "The World Trade Center came down during your brother's reign. Remember that."
Many in the Twittersphere buzzed about Jeb's mention of his brother's "security apparatus." The term, though, dates back to the late 1800s when Jebediah Shrub, a candidate in the 1860 race for the Republican nomination described his brother G. Walker Shrub's response to the War of 1812 and described it as a "security apparatus."
Reginald Remington Trump pointed out, though, that the apparatus didn't work as the British ended up setting fire to the White House. Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request) was present at the debate, and he wrote his now-classic poem "Debate is the brittle instrument" (below on the left) to describe the event. His poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "Prayer is the little Implement" (below on the right). |
