Blow on the Coals

Did you hear the news (below) about the coal industry?  After a recent surge in December, the industry is now back in a terrible slump:

The article reminded me of Emmett Lee Dickinson's poem "Since they have ceased to care" (below on the left).  His poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "When we have ceased to care" (below on the right).

The Coal is given
For whom it came from Earth
Direct from Santa
And so reflects their worth

To weigh upon –
