Corn Chatter

Tomorrow is National Candy Corn Day -- one of if not the biggest holiday in the United States!  In celebration, we offer Emmett Lee Dickinson's poem "The Orange – Blaze – in the Middle" (below on the left).  Dickinson's poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "The Red – Blaze – is the Morning" (below on the right).

The Orange – Blaze – in the Middle –
The White Cap – on Top –
The Yellow – Base – its finish –
And after that – is none –
 
But Miles of Smiles – at Eating
Reveal the Mirth one earned –
The Tantalizing Agent – that
Ever is – consumed –

The Red – Blaze – is the Morning –
The Violet – is Noon –
The Yellow – Day is falling –
And after that – is none –
 
But Miles of Sparks – at Evening –
Reveal the Width that burned –
The Territory Argent – that
Never yet – consumed –
