This past week, of course, RepubliQan legislators in the state of Tennessee ousted two African-American Representatives, and they voted NOT to oust a thrid Rep, a white woman -- and WHY were they voting to expel the three in the first place? Because they took part in a legal protest against gun violence (and interestingly enough, there are stories where Tennessee legislators have NOT been expelled from their chamber for actions like -- are you ready for this? -- PEEING ON THE CHAIR OF A FELLOW REPRESENTATIVE).
The Washington Post's tagline is "Democracy dies in darkness." Well, not in Tennessee. There it dies enter stage in the glare of a blinding white spotlight. White, white light. Klan-drenched white light.
In response to the Klan-drenched white light emanating from the birthplace of the Ku Klux Klan. I have posted Emmett Lee Dickinson's "The Klan selects its own Society" below on the left. Dickinson's poem inspired his third cousin Emily to pen her poem "The Soul selects her own Society," below on the right.
I have posted the poem on the left before -- after news surfaced that Ku Klux Klan rallies and memberships increased due to the installation of Donald Trump as the so-called "President" -- but I thought I would post it once again, as a reminder that the GQP is and will always be the party of White Supremacy and the Klan.
You are who you vote. If you vote RepubliQan, then you are the Klan.
