The poem seems to examine that old adage, “Time heals all wounds” – and that final stanza is quite remarkable! But – while I was exploring this poem – I stumbled upon a very interesting blog. The blogger, Maria Popova, referred to this poem in a review of the book “The Grieving Brain,” HERE. I perused the blog and found several articles I want to get back to (I have linked some of them below). School is out in just under three weeks, so at that point I’ll have more time to catch up on reading and other hobbies! ; ) Now back to those final line’s from today’s poem concerning “woe” (“And though the Woe you have Today / Be larger – As the Sea / Exceeds its Unremembered Drop ), tomorrow’s poem will take a closer look at “woe” and the looking back on grief – “the sharpest of the theme.” |
For information on the blogger, Maria Popova, click HERE. The blog looks very interesting, and like I said -- once school gets out for the summer, I'll spend some time reading some of the articles; however, one statement on the blog seemed a bit odd to me. Ms. Popova said, "Every month, I spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars keeping The Marginalian going." Hmm...I can understand the "hundreds of hours" -- but the "thousancds of dollars"? I'm not sure what she's spending thousands of dollars on each month to keep the blog running. Any thoughts on this? |
