I've highlighted abandoned buildings in my plog (poetry blog) before. There is something mournful yet captivating in the quiet and solace of an abandoned place that was, at some point in its past, a new and vibrant place.
During a recent trip to North Carolina's Outer Banks, I came across a vacated motel in Manteo. Though once a stop for traveling tourists and families, it now sits in silence as incurious travelers pass by on their way to other destinations.
