Even more absurd: Not only are the GOP members of Congress backing Trump with "the Big Lie," they are augmenting the lie with lies of their own -- stating that the insurrection on January 6th was like any other ordinary day in the US Capitol -- that the MAGA terrorists were just ordinary tourists taking a look around. Of course they are obstructing a commission to investigate the attempted coup to overthrow our government -- THE GOP WAS IN ON THE PLANNING! They are the enemy within -- and they cannot afford to let the truth come out!
In response to Trump's and the GOP's "Big Lie," I have posted Emmett Lee Dickinson's poem "The lied for duty, and was scarce" below on the left. Dickinson's poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "I died for beauty, but was scarce," below on the right.
By Emmett Lee Dickinson: They lied for duty, and was scarce Adjusted in the news When he who lied for truth was praised In their adjoining schmooze He questioned falsely why he’d lost “Our duty,” they supplied. “For I am truth – it’s true I’d won We burdened are,” he cried And so, as Klansmen meet at night, They staged their sordid acts Until the mess had reached their base And covered up the facts. | By Emily Dickinson: I died for beauty, but was scarce Adjusted in the tomb, When one who died for truth was lain In an adjoining room. He questioned softly why I failed ? "For beauty," I replied. "And I for truth, — the two are one ; We brethren are," he said. And so, as kinsmen met a night, We talked between the rooms, Until the moss had reached our lips, And covered up our names. |

By Emmett Lee Dickinson: Tell all the Truth but they just can’t – Success for Them is lies The con-man’s pitch informs the Deal The Truth’s new foul disguise “The Big Lie” to the Nation told With exploitation fanned The Truth just withers gradually Till finally it’s banned – | By Emily Dickinson: Tell all the Truth but tell it slant – Success in Circuit lies Too bright for our infirm Delight The Truth's superb surprise As Lightning to the Children eased With explanation kind The Truth must dazzle gradually Or every man be blind – |
