Here’s the backstory:
Yesterday I posted info about Dickinson’s Civil War poem “The dropped like Flakes.” I found a site that discussed the poem, and at one point it said that it was first published in “Further Poems” (by Dickinson) in 1929, and two sentences later it stated that it was published in “Poems” in 1890, the first volume of Dickinson’s poems published posthumously.
With the contradictory information at hand – 1890 vs. 1929 – I checked online copies of the two volumes and found that the poem was in neither one.
What’s up with that? There was no one to “contact” anyone on the site, but I did find a name associated with the project (a professor at Dartmouth), so I’ve emailed her with the info – and my question (“What’s up with that?”). LOL.
However, when I was searching for an online copy of the 1890 volume of “Poems,” I stumbled upon this (HERE):
It certainly seems so.
Anyway, I’ll just leave all of this here and let you talk among yourselves – with a reminder that my birthday is in October.
Fin.
