A couple of notes:
1. I wrote the melody line and noted the basic chords, but I didn't write out a full bass line -- as though it were a page in a Fake Book (for those of you not trained in music, a Fake Book is a book of music, and each page of sheet music shows only the melody line and the basic chord sequence -- and then the musician improvises a bass line).
2. The poem is short (as you can see below on the left), so the song repeats a second time -- and still -- it's short! : )
3. Also, to fit better with the rhythm in the song, I have "played" with the words of the poem a bit (PLEASE don't tell the Dickinson Police). The way I worked out the lyrics is shown below on the right.
By Emily Dickinson: My River runs to thee – Blue Sea! Wilt welcome me? My River wait reply – Oh Sea – look graciously – I'll fetch thee Brooks From spotted nooks – Say – Sea – Take Me! | My river runs It runs to thee Oh, Blue Sea Wilt though welcome me? I'll wait long And patiently for reply. Oh deep blue sea Look graciously I'll fetch brooks And streams for thee Oh blue sea Please take, please take me! |
