One of more memorable events from the election was when Trump received the endorsement of Rufina Permelia Heath (pictured at the left). Rufina was the daughter of Sarah Palin's great-great-great-great-grandfather, Lafayette Bonzo Heath of Sandpoint, Idaho. Rufina was the Commisioner of the Revenue in Sandpoint, and she was one of Trump's most ardent "Trumpeters." She said that Trump would "make America great again" because "his power, his passion, is the fabric of America. And it’s woven by work ethic and dreams and drive and faith in the Almighty, what a combination.” Rufina wrote a poem entitled "The media attacks my friend" (below on the left) which she read to the crowd when she endorsed Trump. Her poem was one of the inspirations for Emily Dickinson's poem "My friend attacks my friend" (below on the right). It should be noted, though, that Dickinson never weighed in on Trump or Cruz -- she stayed out of the fray! |
By Rufina Permelia Heath (Distant relative of Sarah Palin): The media attacks my friend But look back there in the press box. Heads are spinnin’, media heads are spinnin’ This is going to be a Battle picturesque! Then I turn Soldier too because we all have a part in this. You rockin’ rollers and holy rollers! All of you who work so hard, you full-time moms, You with the hands that rock the cradle. You all make the world go round and now our cause is one. And he turns out to be the Leader who’ll make America great again! And he has exposed not just that tragic the ramifications of that betrayal of the transformation of our country, but too, he has exposed the complicity on both sides of the aisle that has enabled it, OK How martial is this place! No more pussy footin’ around! Can I get a 'Hallelujah' From you right wingin’, bitter, clingin’, proud clingers of our guns For our God and our religions and our Constitution. Had I my mighty gun I think I'd shoot some ISIS ass And then to glory run – You betcha! | By Emily Dickinson: My friend attacks my friend! Oh Battle picturesque! Then I turn Soldier too, And he turns Satirist! How martial is this place! Had I a mighty gun I think I'd shoot the human race And then to glory run! |
