Pledge of Convenience

A few weeks ago I posted Emmett Lee Dickinson's poem "They dropped their 'Facts'" (below left) as one of my Featured Poems of the Week.  At that time, I also posted third cousin Emily's "They dropped like Flakes" (below right) as the other Featured Poem.

They dropped their “Facts” –
They dropped their Slurs –
Like Petals from a Rose –
When suddenly across the Globe
A Sense of tension – grows –
 
We’ll perish in their Foolish Ways –
No place to find to hide –
But Pain is seen in every face
For he’s – Unqualified.

They dropped like Stars –
Like Petals from a Rose –

A wind with fingers – goes –

They perished in the Seamless Grass –
No eye could find the place –
But God can summon every face
Of his Repealless – List.

I posted Emmett Lee's poem because, I noted, "Donald Trump is at it again -- he's lying through his teeth -- or should I say, through his tweets."  Here's the particular tweet I was referencing:

It was a lie, of course.

To be honest, I really think the man is utterly incapable of speaking even a single truth -- but the Klansmen and women who support him do not care.  Their sick and ugly view of America is defined and expressed by their Grand Wizard.

And here's the irony:  At yesterday's memorial service for the 9-11 attack on America, Trump was captured on video omitting the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.  Info HERE. 

It won't matter to his Klan.  They know he's a profoundly immoral man and a fake Christian.  His religious beliefs are as hollow as theirs.  For him -- and his Klan -- the pledge is merely a Pledge of Convenience.
