The 138th anniversary of the death of Emily Dickinson is approaching – May 15. I received this information from the Emily Dickinson Museum: “Be a part of a beloved tradition of adorning Emily Dickinson's grave at Amherst's West Cemetery with fresh daisies on the anniversary of her death. Make a supporting gift to the Emily Dickinson Museum in honor of Emily, an Emily admirer, or in memory of someone you've loved and lost. A daisy in their name will be placed on Dickinson's grave as a tribute at the end of Poetry Walk.” | Info on the Poetry Walk is HERE. |
In a letter to her cousin, Dickinson wrote, "I was reared in the garden." That complete letter is HERE. And Dickinson’s view on flowers? Well, she ended her poem “Bloom – is result – to meet a flower” with this line: “To be a Flower, is profound Responsibility” |
