Red Ties

Breaking news stories this weekend reported that the FBI began an investigation of Trump's ties to Russia after he fired James Comey and that following a private meeting with Putin, Trump confiscated his interpreter's notes and ordered him not to divulge any information about the meeting to anyone.

Of course, signs of Trump's treason have manifested themselves since the campaign:  “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said, referring to Hillary Clinton's emails.

In the White House, Trump began having private meetings with Russian officials and ambassadors with NO American press allowed -- stories surfaced through the Russian press!  Later, Trump's disastrous (and treasonous) performance on the world stage in Helsinki shocked even the GOP, the very sycophants who enable and empower him.

Of course, when one reviews the events from Trump's two years in office, there have been many other signs of his "red ties" to Russia.  Below:  Trump in a "Make Russia Great Again" hat; a telling sign at Trump Tower; Melania in a controversial and much-discussed fashion statement; Trump's re-modeling of the Whiter House. 

And then there are the red ties -- all of Trump's red ties.  Why do you think Trump wears so many red ties?  And what's with the Russian flag lapel pins?

​Of course, the real question is for the GOP:  Why don't they call Trump on any of this?  Why do they let him erode the very principles on which our democratic republic was founded?  Their duplicitous acceptance of Trump's perfidious behavior is shocking -- and it calls to mind Emmett Lee Dickinson's poem "Did We abolish Trust" (below on the left).  Dickinson's poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "Did We abolish Frost" (below on the right).
