We have exciting news about an event co-sponsored by DOPE , the Dickinson Organization of Poetry Enthusiasts, and the American Library Association, a proud sponsor of the Emmett Lee Dickinson Museum:
Grassroots organizers across the globe have called for Wednesday, March 8, 2017 to be a one-day strike for women around the world. The event coincides with International Women’s Day and has generated significant media attention. However, we think we need to take this whole concept a giant step further, and we proclaim March 10th and 11th as International Women’s Weekend – and we have planned “A Weekend Without Men” at the fabulous Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
Damn if men haven’t screwed up the world, and we're tired of it – so let’s kick back and party and relax all weekend!
1. Do not work over the weekend. Instead, take the weekend off, and fly down to Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun.
2. Drink Mango Margartias.
3. Avoid men all weekend – except those serving you Mango Margaritas at LeBlanc Spa Resort.
4. Wear sunscreen all weekend in solidarity with “A Weekend Without Men.”
Male allies are also encouraged to show support by taking care of the kids and housework – so be sure there’s plenty of laundry detergent at home so that the men can get the laundry done!
