Later the name was changed to M&Ms because of a reference made by Emmett Lee Dickinson in his poem “’Tis little I – could care for Pearls” (below on the left), a poem which Emily Dickinson later pirated and changed the ending (below on the right). |

First, Mars, Incorporated, has introduced "Coffee Nut" M&Ms because no other poet wrote more poems about coffee than Emmett Lee Dickinson. Second, Mars now has "Candy Corn" M&Ms, a fitting tribute to Emmett Lee Dickinson, the man who invented candy corn! Be sure to have some one hand this year for National Candy Corn Day (information is HERE).
