Emmett Lee Dickinson (Emily Dickinson's third cousin, twice removed -- at her request) invented the hotdog (information is HERE at the bottom of the page), and National Hot Dog day is the third Wednesday of July (except when Wednesday falls on July 1st, then it is held on the 4th Wednesday). But have you walked into a 7-11 lately? They have a whole host of tubular meats rolling on their grills -- and for most of them, a particular or specific type of meat cannot be identified.
Emmett Lee Dickinson foresaw the age of tubular meat in his visionary poem "Surprise is like a rolling – pungent" (below on the left). His poem inspired third cousin Emily to pen her poem "Surprise is like a thrilling — pungent" (below on the right).
